Drone shots from Alexander's Trial Site, summer 2017

Alexander's trial site, central Hawke's bay, was planted in 2011. The trial is one of our series of demonstration trials, where a range of species have been planted to see how they cope with prevailing conditions in this case a north-facing slope with annual rainfall of around 800 mm, and regular frosts in winter.

Click on the images to enlarge them. Image 4 shows the layout of the different species.

This site has seen some extremely fast growth rates. A field day was held in 2016; detailed notes from the event, including growth analyses of the different species  are available here.
